Spotlight on Lynn Kelly: Her Path from Judge Kelly to Partner at The Blum Firm

Last week, I emphasized the importance of gratitude in this holiday season and shared a key moment with my family that made me feel immensely grateful.

This week, I want to continue that sentiment by expressing gratitude for one of our valued team members, Lynn Waller Kelly. For a period of six years, we all called her Judge Kelly. Lynn served as Associate Judge of Tarrant County Probate Court 2 from 2017 – 2023, where she presided over more than 6,000 probate hearings. We’re extremely grateful that when Judge Kelly decided to hang up her judicial robe and go into private practice of law, she joined The Blum Firm. Lynn Kelly has been an incredible addition to both the firm and our litigation team. She is a brilliant attorney who works tirelessly for her clients and brings her signature poise and style to everything she does.

Last week, Lynn authored an article that was featured in The Dallas Bar Association’s December 2025 Headnotes, titled “Representing an Applicant in a Temporary Guardianship.” The article covers what temporary guardianship is, why it is issued, and five key tips to consider when representing applicants in temporary guardianship matters. To learn more, Lynn’s article is linked here.

Discovering this article made me so proud and filled me with immense gratitude for Lynn and the value she brings to our firm. So, let’s take a moment to dive into the backstory of Lynn Waller Kelly.

Lynn received her J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law, where she was awarded a full academic scholarship. She graduated magna cum laude from Abilene Christian University with a B.A. in Government. Lynn has practiced law in North Texas since 1989 and has advocated for clients in front of hundreds of Texas juries.

Lynn’s current practice focuses on representing clients in probate matters, estate litigation, and guardianship proceedings throughout North Texas. She also serves as mediator in contested probate litigation matters, bringing her judicial and advocacy experiences to the table to resolve conflicts.

Lynn has been a featured speaker for Texas Guardianship Association, Baylor Law School, Texas A&M Law School, Tarrant County Bar Association, North Texas Probate Bar Association, and support groups for parents of children with special needs.

And Lynn’s talents don’t stop at the law. She is also a gifted vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, playing piano, clarinet, and baritone saxophone. Over the years, Lynn has performed with the Dallas Symphony Chorus (including a concert for Queen Elizabeth and one at Carnegie Hall), as well as several Fort Worth choruses and with Andrea Bocelli’s tour.

Outside of work and music, Lynn’s greatest joy is her family. She and her husband, Jason Kelly, have been married for 29 years. Jason is a Technical Fellow at Lockheed Martin. Their son, Mitchell, graduated from Baylor University and now works as an emergency room scribe while studying medical science in the post-baccalaureate program at UNT-Health.

Lynn consistently finds new ways to impress me, and I am deeply thankful to have her as part of The Blum Firm. Please join me in celebrating Lynn Waller Kelly.
